Matt

Full-time fiddle teacher Matt Tarling has spent 14 years working as a professional musician. Following a thorough classical training, and living and playing music in Ireland, he has toured extensively throughout Europe with a variety of bands.

Matt's teaching style could be called unconventional, in that his focus is not on exams and music theory. He centres on posture, technique, learning by ear rather than always from sheet music, and teaching the finer points of the Irish style, Bluegrass, Jazz violin such as ornamentation and bowing techniques. Above all, lessons are easy going and fun.

As well as teaching, Matt now plays in several groups:

"Miros" Premier Ceilidh band. If it's a night or day of great music with or without the Ceilidh dance, then Miros is definitely worth checking out. We play a mixture of Irish/Celtic musics with an extra added twist.
